It can be a difficult to decide if obtaining a dental insurance policy is the right decision for you.  There are so many to choose from and it seems like you can’t begin to understand what a policy provides, unless you have a doctorate in dentistry!  Well, we have found at our office Delta Dental Insurance makes choosing a policy simple!

Delta Dental Insurance Company has been offering dental insurance coverage for more than 50 years and is the largest dental benefits carrier in the United States.  There are over 140,000 dentists participating in its large national network and many plans also provide out-of-network dental coverage. Delta Dental Insurance offers many customizable plans to fit to your family’s dental needs.  Delta Dental offers PPO, HMO, fee-for-service, and discount plans and also contracts with many state, federal, and local agencies to provide dental insurance group coverage.

While looking at some reviews of Delta Dental and the extensive experience I have had with them, I found many pros and limited cons.

Listed below are the pros and cons I found while looking into Delta Dental Insurance:

PROS for Dental Dental:

  • Delta Dental has strong financial strength ratings
  • Online claim management
  • Convenient mobile app
  • Customizable policies
  • Many plans offer full mouth x-rays at 100% for preventative care; important in diagnosing gum disease and bone loss
  • SmileWay Wellness website offering fun oral health activities, information and tools for the whole family
  • Grin! An e-magazine just for kids

CONS for Delta Dental:

  • All coverage options/plans are not available in every state
  • Many self-pay plans having waiting periods
  • Downgrades on fillings and crowns

We love being a preferred provider for Delta Dental insurance because they are one of the best dental insurance plans our patients can get to provide them with the most beneficial coverage.  When our patients use their PPO plan with Delta Dental at our office, they are getting quality dental service at a guaranteed rate which Delta Dental sets for all offices.  If you are unfamiliar with the term PPO, it means Preferred Provider Organization.  That allows you, as the patient, to go anywhere usually.  But if you do go to a Preferred Provider, you will get a reduced rate on your dental treatment.

We have been in our relationship with Delta Dental for many years and we have gotten to know their general policies, coverage and restrictions well.  With so many of our patients covered by Delta Dental Insurance, we have filed a magnitude of claims with them and have found them to be one of the most straightforward dental insurance companies to deal with.

Bottom line, Delta Dental has over 50 years of experience of providing quality dental insurance. There is a reason they have been around for 5 decades and it shows in their dedication to their clients and relationship with dental providers.

At the offices of Thomas L. Anderson and Associates, each of our dentists at all three conveniently located offices are participating providers with Delta Dental PPO and are ready to give you the best quality care possible.  If you have any questions with your current or future Delta Dental insurance policy, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We are happy to review your policy!
