From the Dental Insurance Corner… Use it or Lose it!
As we get into the beautiful autumn months, now is the time of the year to start thinking about your remaining dental insurance benefits.
Whether your dental insurance is with Metlife Dental, Cigna Dental, Humana Dental or one of the many other PPO plans we take, you will want to make sure you get into the dentist this year to maximize your potential benefits. Your full coverage dental insurance plan may have a maximum benefit of $1000, $1500 or even more. But for the calendar year plans, you will lose that benefit entirely if you don’t use it before the end of the year.
All dental plans are a little different, so if you are unsure of any of your plan information, please give us a call and if we don’t already have the details, we can find out for you.
If you have Guardian Dental Insurance, for example, you may even have a roll over benefit that you earned from last year that is also available to you. Some of you have used a portion of your dental insurance already, or maybe you haven’t been in at all. But if you have dental treatment or concerns that have not been addressed, then now is when you should be calling our offices to arrange a time to have one of our wonderful dentists take a look. As the year end nears, our appointment times become harder to find since patients are trying to have their treatments completed before December 31st.
Also, you may have a full coverage dental insurance plan that will pay once the treatment is completed, so if you are in need of a crown, for example, you will need to have that started and finished before January 1st, 2015, to have it still paid with the 2014 benefits. If you have a Flexible Spending Account and still have money remaining, you also will need to have the work done within this year in order to be reimbursed.
We have different payment options that are available to you, including a twelve-month interest free plan, if you are interested.
Please let us know if we can help you achieve your dental needs for 2014 and even to plan for next year. If your only concern is having your teeth cleaned and you have not been in twice this year, we would certainly want to get an appointment scheduled quickly as well. Most of the major dental insurance plans pay either twice a year or once every six months, so please call to find a time that works well for you now.
Once again, if you are unsure about any of your dental benefits, please allow us to help any way we can. Full coverage dental insurance is continuously changing, and we want to see all our patients get the most out of their plans!
