We have been in practice long enough to know that many of our patients are not thrilled to make a trip to the dentist. We think that one of the main reasons people are less than excited to visit the dentist is because they associate the dentist with pain, but what if you could have a nearly painless dentistry experience? We know it seems too good to be true, but at our dentists truly pride themselves in providing a nearly painless dental experience.
Did you have a traumatic dental experience that has made going to the dentist difficult? Have you spent time searching “painless dentistry Kansas City”, because of a past experience? We understand that one bad experience can make it nearly impossible to get back to the dentist, but it is extremely important to maintain good oral hygiene. Your oral health effects many other aspects of your overall health. Therefore, our dental team is here to help those who have been search for “painless dentistry” in Kansas City.
Our friendly, knowledgeable staff’s number one concern is the patient, and more specifically the comfort and ease that should come with dental care. Even a patient with the most severe dental anxiety can feel right at home after we have dipped their hands in paraffin hand wax, placed them on some relaxing nitrous oxide, and started one of their favorite movies. We believe our skilled team in combination with these mental distractions provides our patients with the painless dental experience they have been searching for.
You may be asking yourself what some of these amenities are that we provide, let us explain them a bit.
- Paraffin Wax
Before getting you seated we dip your hands in a warm paraffin wax. Paraffin wax dip is often times used in salons to remove dead skin and moisturize the skin. We have learned that soft hands are not the only benefits of paraffin wax use. Effects such as increased blood flow, improved joint stiffness, and reduction in pain makes it great for our patients who suffer from arthritis. There is no better feeling during a harsh midwestern winter than warm wax moisturizing your dry hands!
- Complementary Nitrous Oxide
Commonly referred to as “laughing gas”, nitrous oxide creates an effect that makes a patient more relaxed. This enables our patients to experience nearly painless dentistry. We use a mixture of nitrous and oxygen so that it’s safe to use, and within 2-5 minutes its pain killing and relaxing effects wash over you. The Nitrous Oxide levels can be adjusted as needed during your visit. The effects have been found to relieve pain, anxiety, and even one’s gag reflex. Nitrous Oxide also leaves your body within 3-5 minutes, as opposed to some oral medications which stay in your system for long periods of time. In a matter of minutes you can leave the office clear headed and able to drive yourself home or back to work. In some cases, patients do not like the effects of the nitrous. If it is not for you, make sure to let us know! We can switch you over to oxygen and have you feeling like yourself again in mere minutes.
- Screens Above Your Dental Chair
Each dental chair has a screen affixed to the ceiling above it. We provide a large selection of movies or music videos to view during your appointment. Providing an auditory and visual distraction to get lost in helps our patients to relax during their procedures.
