1. Designing Your Smile
A beautiful smile says it all. A beautiful, alluring smile
makes you feel great and can be the beginning of a more successful
lifestyle. Dr. Anderson provides a personal smile design evaluation
and smile blueprint for all his cosmetic dentistry patients.
A. Smile design evaluation and smile blueprints
Designing your smile is fun and exciting. It begins with you
letting us know what you want. You talk, we listen. We will
do a dental examination and evaluate your lip line, facial
shape, and skin tones. Radiographs, impressions and photographs
are taken. Dr. Anderson will discuss all your needs and concerns,
and answer all of your questions. Dr. Anderson will use all
the information gathered to develop a customized smile blueprint
- a plan that shows you exactly how your new smile will look.
Dr. Anderson believes that careful planning is essential to
designing the most beautiful smile for you and only you.
B. Smile makeovers
When you are ready to proceed, Dr. Anderson will begin your
smile makeover. His philosophy is to use the most up-to-date
techniques and materials available to create your perfect
smile. Your smile makeover may take only one visit. You may
find that a couple of visits are right for you. In either
case, you and your smile are our greatest priority. For relatively
simple procedures, Dr. Anderson can restore your smile in
a day or two. For more advanced procedures that require more
planning, Dr. Anderson can create that beautiful smile in
as little as two weeks, so you, too, can enjoy all the benefits
that cosmetic dentistry has to offer.
C. Cosmetic Imaging
Cosmetic imaging involves taking a digital picture of your
smile and then transforming your smile with the help of computer
technology. This allows you to see your beautiful new smile
before your smile makeover treatment begins. A member of Dr.
Anderson's staff will take a digital picture of your smile.
You will then receive a photograph showing how you will look
when your smile makeover is completed.
For your perfect smile, one or a combination of various techniques
may be recommended.
D. Porcelain
veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin, artistically handcrafted veneers
of porcelain that are permanently affixed to the front surfaces
of teeth using adhesive materials and advanced bonding techniques.

and natural in appearance.

Porcelain veneers
have numerous advantages:
- The
natural tooth structure is preserved, and the surrounding
soft tissue remains untouched.
- Individual teeth
of dissimilar color and contour can now be matched.
- Permanent stains,
such as those caused be antibiotics administered during childhood,
can be completely masked.
- Natural teeth
weakened by root canal treatment and old fillings can be strengthened
in this process.
- Fractured and
trauma-damaged teeth can now be restored without the invasive
tooth reduction necessary for full crown coverage.
- Misaligned teeth
can be corrected to produce a more perfect smile.
Lasting longer than
bleaching or bonding, porcelain veneers have a life expectancy
of 15 years. They are resistant to stains and chips, are extremely
natural looking and won't discolor over time. The results of
porcelain veneers are immediate, dramatic and long lasting.
E. Tooth whitening
Tooth whitening
is a process of bleaching the teeth to remove years of ground
in coffee, tea, soda, smoke and food stains. It creates a more
appealing, youthful smile. Tooth whitening is a safe, effective
way to enhance the aesthetics of the teeth you have. Available
in in-office and take home versions.
Before and After
F. All porcelain crowns
Similar to porcelain veneers in composition, all porcelain crowns
are used when a tooth has had extensive breakdown. They cover
the entire tooth to protect and strengthen it. They are handcrafted
by a porcelain artist to any shape, size and color desired and
are bonded to the remaining tooth structure. Since they are
metal free, they will not show a "blue line" along the gum line.

Posterior Porcelain Crown
G. Crown and Bridge
Crowns are placed over the natural teeth to support a bridge
of one or several teeth. This creates non-removable tooth replacements
to areas where natural teeth are adjacent to both sides.

H. Tooth colored
(mercury free) fillings, also called composite fillings
Tooth colored fillings can be used to perfectly blend in
with the shade of the tooth. Tooth colored fillings restore
areas that have been damaged by breakage, chipping or decay.
Tooth colored fillings are used on front teeth and can be used
on back teeth if the damaged areas are of small to medium size.
Before and After
I.
Tooth colored inlays and onlays
These restorations are used when posterior teeth have considerable
breakdown. They are used when a tooth colored filling would
not be strong enough and wouldn't last or when a crown would
require excessive removal of healthy tooth structure. They are
handcrafted by a porcelain artist to the correct size, shape
and color and are bonded to the remaining tooth structure.

Before and After
J. Dental implants
In the course
of life, teeth can be lost due to decay and gum disease. Dental
implantology is a proven medical treatment, by which lost teeth
can be replaced with "artificial roots" and a new tooth crown
can be placed. If you have lost a tooth, dental implants can
restore your smile. Dental implants are "anchors" that permanently
support replacement teeth. Unlike dentures or bridges, implants
involve surgically placing an artificial tooth or teeth into
the bone. The advantages of dental implants are that they are
secure and may be cleaned much like natural teeth. Your other
teeth are not disturbed in the process.
